New Delhi, June 18, 2025 – In a major step toward enhancing road travel efficiency, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has announced the launch of a FASTag-based Annual Pass. The new system, aimed at private vehicle owners, will come into effect from August 15, 2025, and is expected to significantly reduce delays, congestion, and payment hassles on India’s National Highways.
Taking to social media, Gadkari described the initiative as a “transformative step towards hassle-free highway travel,” noting that the annual pass is priced at ₹3,000 and is valid for one year or up to 200 trips, whichever is earlier. The pass is exclusively available for non-commercial private vehicles, including cars, jeeps, and vans.
Key Features of the FASTag Annual Pass:
- Launch Date: August 15, 2025
- Price: ₹3,000 per year
- Validity: One year from activation or up to 200 highway trips
- Eligibility: Only for private vehicles — cars, jeeps, and vans
- Access: Will be activated and renewed via the Rajmarg Yatra App, as well as the official NHAI and MoRTH websites
The minister highlighted that the pass aims to enable seamless and cost-effective travel while resolving long-standing public concerns—especially regarding toll plazas situated within 60 km of each other. With a single, affordable transaction model, the pass is designed to simplify toll payments and enhance the driving experience for millions of daily highway users.
Gadkari further emphasized that the initiative is aligned with the government’s vision to create a digitally empowered transport system. By significantly reducing wait times, minimizing toll disputes, and easing traffic congestion, the FASTag Annual Pass is set to bring relief and convenience to frequent highway travelers.
A dedicated activation link will be made available soon on official platforms, allowing users to enroll and start using the benefits from the date of the policy’s rollout.
