The Telangana Housing Board has conducted a lottery for the allotment of 111 low-income group (LIG) flats in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, as part of its ongoing affordable housing programme. The draw was held on January 6 and saw significant participation from eligible applicants, highlighting strong demand for reasonably priced homes in one of the city’s key residential and employment corridors.
According to official data, a total of 2,685 applications were received for the 111 flats, reflecting high interest among buyers within the LIG income bracket. The allotment was carried out through a transparent lottery system to ensure fairness in the selection process. The entire draw was conducted online and streamed live to allow applicants to follow the proceedings in real time.
The flats were offered to applicants with an annual household income of up to ₹6 lakh, in line with the eligibility criteria prescribed by the Housing Board for the LIG category. The units are located in Gachibowli, an area that has seen rapid infrastructure development due to its proximity to IT parks, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and major arterial roads. The price of the flats ranged between ₹26 lakh and ₹36.20 lakh, depending on the size and specific location within the housing complex.
Each apartment is designed as a compact residential unit suitable for small families, with built-up areas typically ranging from around 450 to 650 square feet. Officials confirmed that all applications were screened prior to the lottery to verify income eligibility, residency status, and the absence of prior property ownership, as required under the scheme’s guidelines.
Applicants who were not successful in the lottery will receive refunds of the application amount as per the Housing Board’s standard process. The authorities stated that further communication regarding payment schedules, documentation, and possession timelines will be shared directly with successful allottees.
This lottery forms part of a larger affordable housing initiative by the Telangana Housing Board, under which similar LIG housing projects are being offered in other cities across the state. The initiative aims to improve access to formal housing for lower-income households while ensuring transparency and efficiency in allotment.
