A large number of Bengaluru residents came together for a peaceful protest to highlight deteriorating road conditions across several city localities. The protest was organized on roads plagued by potholes, damaged pavement, frequent waterlogging, and overall neglect of basic road maintenance.
The gathering saw residents holding banners and placards, urging civic authorities to prioritize repair works and improve road safety. Organizers pointed out that sections of roads close to commercial, residential, and transit areas have become risky for motorists, pedestrians, and public transport users alike.
Participants noted that repeated rains worsen the condition of the roads, turning damaged stretches into muddy tracks and contributing to traffic delays. Many local commuters claimed that vehicle damage has increased, while emergency services and school transports face delays during peak monsoon seasons.
Officials from the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and local municipal corporations have acknowledged receiving complaints. They stated that work orders have been issued, but progress has been slower than expected due to factors like contractor delays, funding limitations, and monsoon disruptions.
In response to the protest, residents said they hope visible action will be taken soon — improved lighting, better drainage, resurfacing of roads, and better quality asphalt work. While no official timeline was announced during the protest, civic leaders present committed to assessing the worst-affected stretches first.
