The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the development of the Bengaluru Business Corridor, a 117-kilometre tolled expressway that will connect Electronic City with Mysuru Road and Tumakuru Road, aiming to ease traffic congestion and enhance connectivity across the city’s key industrial and commercial zones.
The corridor will be executed by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and is expected to be completed within two years. As part of the project, the State government will offer five different compensation options for landowners affected by land acquisition. This initiative is designed to balance infrastructure expansion with fair rehabilitation and resettlement measures.
The upcoming Business Corridor will serve as a crucial link integrating Bengaluru’s southern and western regions. By connecting major arterial routes such as Electronic City, Mysuru Road, and Tumakuru Road, the corridor aims to reduce travel time, decongest the city’s core, and promote smoother traffic movement between the IT hubs and surrounding industrial clusters.
According to officials, the tolled expressway is part of a larger urban mobility strategy to improve inter-city connectivity and support economic growth. Once completed, it is expected to boost real estate activity, particularly in the southern and western suburbs, by improving accessibility to emerging business districts and logistics hubs.
The BDA has been tasked with fast-tracking the project’s approvals and execution, ensuring minimal disruption during construction. The corridor will also feature supporting infrastructure such as service roads, flyovers, and underpasses to streamline vehicular movement.
The Bengaluru Business Corridor project reflects the state’s broader push toward creating an integrated transport network that complements the city’s expanding metro lines, peripheral ring roads, and satellite townships.
