Bengaluru has witnessed the commencement of construction work on the Ejipura–Agara Link Road, a long-awaited infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity in the city’s southeastern corridor. The project involves developing a 24-metre-wide, 6-kilometre road that will connect Lower Agara to Iblur via Defence land, providing relief for residents of Koramangala, Ejipura, and surrounding localities.
According to official updates, the work is being implemented in three phases. Phase I, spanning 0.86 kilometres, has already begun. Phase II, covering 2.24 kilometres, has been cleared by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), enabling further progress. However, Phase III, stretching 2.97 kilometres, is still awaiting necessary approvals. Once all phases are completed, the project is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion and enhance road accessibility in the area.
The total project cost has been estimated at ₹48 crore, with funding allocated for land clearance, development, and related works. The road is designed as a strategic alternative route, offering smoother traffic flow between residential hubs and IT corridors. This is especially critical for commuters who regularly face heavy congestion in Koramangala, Ejipura, Agara, and Outer Ring Road stretches.
The link road has been under discussion for several years due to land acquisition and clearance challenges. With work now initiated, residents anticipate improved travel times once the project reaches completion. While the initial progress on Phase I has provided momentum, the pending approval for Phase III remains a key milestone for the full execution of the plan.
As Bengaluru continues to expand, infrastructure projects such as the Ejipura–Agara Link Road are viewed as essential for supporting mobility across growing residential and commercial zones. When fully operational, the link road is expected to serve as a vital connector between central neighbourhoods and the city’s tech-driven outer regions.
