BENGALURU: The Karnataka government has approved the Cauvery Stage VI water supply project, a major infrastructure initiative expected to benefit nearly 30 lakh residents across North Bengaluru and surrounding urban regions.

The project aims to strengthen drinking water supply in rapidly expanding growth corridors of the city.

Areas Covered Under the Project

The approved Cauvery Stage VI project will provide drinking water supply to:

  • Devanahalli

  • Nelamangala

  • Hoskote

  • BDA Dr. Shivarama Karanth Layout

  • BDA Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout (NPKL)

  • Vijayapura

  • Madanayakanahalli

These regions have witnessed substantial residential and commercial development in recent years, increasing the demand for reliable civic infrastructure.

Infrastructure Expansion for Growing Population

The Cauvery Stage VI project is part of the broader urban water management plan designed to cater to Bengaluru’s expanding metropolitan footprint. With rapid urbanisation in North Bengaluru — especially near Kempegowda International Airport and emerging industrial corridors — enhanced water supply is seen as critical for sustainable development.

Officials stated that the project will improve distribution networks and ensure consistent potable water access in newly developed layouts and peripheral zones.

Real Estate and Urban Development Impact

Infrastructure upgrades such as assured water supply typically influence real estate dynamics in multiple ways:

  • Boost to Residential Projects: Improved civic amenities may increase buyer confidence in emerging micro-markets.

  • Support for Planned Layouts: BDA-developed layouts could see enhanced demand due to better water security.

  • Peripheral Growth: Towns like Devanahalli and Hoskote may witness further investment interest as infrastructure strengthens.

Water infrastructure is considered a key factor in determining long-term urban livability and sustainable property growth.

Strategic Importance for North Bengaluru

North Bengaluru has emerged as a significant development zone due to airport connectivity, tech parks, and industrial investments. The Cauvery Stage VI approval aligns with the state’s efforts to expand essential infrastructure in line with population growth.

Further implementation details and timelines are expected to be announced by the concerned authorities.
