The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has outlined major expansion plans under Phase 4, introducing multiple new routes and extensions aimed at improving connectivity across the city and its growing suburbs.
Under Phase 4, four major line extensions are planned:
Bommasandra–Attibele line covering 11 km with 7–8 stations.
Madavara–Tumakuru stretch extending 59.6 km with 25 stations, linking Bengaluru’s western corridor to Tumakuru.
Silk Institute–Harohalli line on Kanakapura Road, spanning 24 km with 18 stations.
Challaghatta–Bidadi line, stretching 15 km and featuring 13 stations.
These routes are designed to strengthen suburban access and reduce dependence on private transport, easing city congestion.
In addition to Phase 4, BMRCL has proposed three further line extensions:
Blue Line extension from Doddajala to Devanahalli (10 km), improving airport access.
Purple Line extension between KR Puram and Hoskote (16.3 km).
Silver Line extension from Kadabagere to Tavarekere Village (6 km).
These expansions are expected to serve fast-growing residential and commercial hubs along Bengaluru’s eastern and northern zones.
A new 68 km metro corridor has also been proposed from Kalena Agrahara to Kadugodi Tree Park, passing through Bannerghatta, Jigani, Attibele, Sarjapur, Dommasandra, and Varthur Kodi. The new line is expected to enhance east-west connectivity and link several key employment and residential clusters.
Once implemented, these projects will significantly expand the Namma Metro network, strengthening urban mobility and regional integration. Detailed project timelines, station designs, and budget allocations are expected to be announced in the coming months.
