The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is preparing to induct the eighth train on the Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line by February 14. The move is expected to strengthen operations and improve service reliability on the busy corridor connecting R.V. Road and Bommasandra.

The Yellow Line covers a distance of 19.15 kilometres and includes 16 stations. It became operational in August 2025 and serves several key residential, commercial, and employment zones in south Bengaluru. Since the start of services, commuter demand on the corridor has increased steadily, prompting BMRCL to expand its operational fleet in a phased manner.

The eighth trainset has arrived at the Hebbagodi Metro Depot, where it is currently undergoing mandatory inspections and testing. These include static checks, dynamic trials, signalling integration, and safety validations. Trial runs are being conducted during non-operational hours to ensure the train meets all technical and regulatory requirements before entering passenger service.

Once inducted, the additional train is expected to help reduce waiting times for commuters, especially during peak travel hours. Increased fleet availability allows BMRCL to operate services at shorter intervals, improving overall passenger movement and easing congestion on platforms.

Earlier additions to the Yellow Line fleet have already contributed to smoother operations and better frequency. The induction of the eighth train is part of a larger plan to gradually enhance capacity as ridership grows. Any changes to service schedules or headways will be announced officially after the completion of testing and receipt of final operational approvals.

The Yellow Line operates using advanced driverless train technology and is integrated with Bengaluru’s wider metro network. It plays a key role in supporting daily travel needs while offering a reliable alternative to road transport.
