The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has reclaimed over 25 acres of encroached land in Bengaluru, valued at around ₹704.3 crore. The land was recovered through 14 demolition drives conducted between July and December 2025. These operations targeted unauthorised constructions on land designated for public projects, layouts, and civic infrastructure.
The demolition drives removed illegal buildings, industrial sheds, compound walls, and temporary structures across several areas in Bengaluru, including south, north, and east zones. These efforts are part of a long-term plan to restore public land and ensure proper urban planning in the city.
Among the major recoveries, JP Nagar 9th Phase saw over 12.5 acres cleared, worth approximately ₹370 crore. In Jnanabharathi Layout, around 1 acre and 16 guntas of land were restored, valued at ₹153 crore, while Kengeri Satellite Town recovered nearly 37,000 sq ft, estimated at ₹50 crore. HRBR and HBR Layouts together accounted for more than 26 guntas of reclaimed land, worth almost ₹35 crore.
BDA officials stated that all demolition drives were conducted after mandatory legal notices, a minimum seven-day compliance period, and public announcements. Occupants who ignored the notices were removed without compensation, although some were allowed extra time on humanitarian grounds.
The reclaimed land will now be used in upcoming BDA projects, added to existing layouts, or auctioned according to legal and structural eligibility. Parcels that cannot be easily separated will be used for new layout formations, supporting Bengaluru’s planned urban development.
BDA Chairman N.A. Haris noted that these drives reflect the authority’s ongoing commitment to protecting public land. Cases still under litigation will continue to be addressed as per judicial directives.
