Major structural work on the eastern side of Yeshwantpur Railway Station is almost complete under the ₹380-crore redevelopment plan, with finishing touches remaining, according to railway officials. The upgrades — which include a new entrance building, elevated access road and a multi-level parking complex — are expected to significantly enhance commuter convenience.
On the western side, which connects to the metro station, works are still underway. Critical elements such as the air-concourse, ticket counters, and integration with the metro link remain to be completed. Once finished, the station will include modern amenities: expanded platforms, upgraded waiting halls, commercial zones, food courts, improved signage and a pedestrian bridge linking rail and metro networks.
Currently handling over 60,000 passengers daily, the revamped station is expected to handle 100,000+ commuters a day after completion, easing congestion at one of Bengaluru’s busiest transit hubs.
The redevelopment is part of the broader national initiative under the Amrit Bharat Stations Scheme (ABSS), aiming to upgrade railway infrastructure and passenger amenities across major stations in India.
For Bengaluru commuters, office-goers and daily travellers, this overhaul promises a more seamless, comfortable and integrated travel experience — with improved connectivity between rail, metro and urban transport, enhanced facilities, and better crowd management. For property markets and neighbourhoods around the station, enhanced connectivity may drive increased interest and demand.
