The Karnataka cabinet has approved a landmark ₹9,700 crore double-decker viaduct project as part of Namma Metro Phase 3 in Bengaluru. The innovative infrastructure integrates elevated metro lines atop flyovers across two major corridors, forming the city’s longest-ever flyover stretch.
The first corridor stretches approximately 28.486 km from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura along the Outer Ring Road, making it Bengaluru’s longest flyover to date. The second corridor spans 8.635 km between Hosahalli and Kadabagere on Magadi Road. Together, these double-deck viaducts cover 37.121 km, a streamlined design from the originally proposed 44.65 km.
Civil works are slated to begin in early 2025, with tenders for the initial packages to be floated shortly. The project completion timeline has been extended to May 2031, reflecting both the scale and complexity of this engineering feat.
