Bengaluru’s Namma Metro network is poised to enter its fastest phase of expansion, with planned corridors, airport connectivity and Outer Ring Road (ORR) links expected to significantly reshape the city’s transit landscape between 2026 and 2035. As per the latest plans, the metro network could expand to 466 kilometres by 2035, marking a decisive shift from gradual growth to accelerated execution.

Currently, Namma Metro operates 96 km across multiple corridors, serving 83 stations. Ongoing and proposed phases aim to add extensive new routes across key growth corridors, aligning with the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP-2020). Phase II, Phase III and Phase III-A projects together account for a substantial portion of the upcoming expansion.

Several major corridors are under construction or in advanced planning stages. These include the Blue Line connecting KR Puram to Kempegowda International Airport (38.4 km), the Pink Line from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara (21.2 km), and the Yellow Line between Silk Institute and Bommasandra. In addition, the JP Nagar Phase 4–Kempapura corridor (32.1 km) and Hosahalli–Kadabagere stretch (12.5 km) are expected to enhance west and north Bengaluru connectivity.

Beyond sanctioned lines, nearly 209 km of new corridors are currently under DPR and feasibility studies. These include strategic extensions such as Sarjapur–Hebbal, Silk Institute–Harohalli, Madavara–Tumakuru, and Challaghatta–Bidadi, aimed at improving suburban integration and reducing dependency on road transport.

The proposed expansion also complements major infrastructure initiatives such as the airport metro link, Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), and Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR), reinforcing Bengaluru’s push toward a dense, citywide rapid transit system. Authorities indicate that corridor prioritisation will be based on ridership demand, feasibility, and funding availability.

If executed as planned, the coming decade could transform Bengaluru’s public transport capacity, easing congestion, improving commute reliability, and supporting transit-oriented development across emerging residential and commercial hubs.
