Swiggy is relocating its Bengaluru headquarters from Bellandur on the Outer Ring Road to the upcoming office space at Sumadhura Capitol Towers in Whitefield. The decision follows the expiry of its lease at the current Embassy Tech Village facility, where the company has operated for more than five years. The new headquarters is planned to accommodate around 2,000 employees, similar to the existing office setup, while offering a modern workspace aligned with Swiggy’s long-term operational requirements.
A key factor influencing the move is improved public transport connectivity. The new Whitefield location is close to Kadugodi Tree Park and Hopefarm Channasandra metro stations on the Purple Line, providing employees with better commute options and reducing dependence on road travel. This improved access to metro infrastructure is expected to significantly enhance daily travel convenience for Swiggy’s workforce.
Swiggy has also pointed out that residential areas around Whitefield offer comparatively more affordable housing than Bellandur and the broader ORR corridor. With many employees preferring to live closer to their workplace, the availability of cost-effective housing in surrounding neighbourhoods is considered an added advantage. The company views the shift as an opportunity to set up a future-ready office environment that meets evolving employee needs while supporting business growth.
While traffic congestion along ORR continues to be a challenge for organisations in the region, Swiggy has clarified that it is not the primary reason for the move. Instead, the relocation is driven by a combination of lease completion, the need for a larger and more flexible workspace, and the advantage of better connectivity in Whitefield. The move reflects a broader trend of companies reassessing their presence along ORR and exploring emerging business hubs that offer improved infrastructure.
The company has not shared a confirmed date for completing the transition, but reports indicate that the shift is likely to take place in the coming months. As one of India’s leading food-tech firms, Swiggy’s move signals a shift in corporate real estate preferences within Bengaluru, aligning workspaces with expanding metro networks and growing commercial clusters in the city.
