Infrastructure Update: New Flyover Planned to Decongest Key Junction
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has floated tenders for the construction of a four-lane flyover at Mekhri Circle, with an estimated project cost of around ₹420 crore. The proposed elevated corridor is aimed at addressing long-standing traffic congestion at one of North Bengaluru’s busiest junctions.
The flyover is planned as part of a broader decongestion strategy, with execution expected to be completed within 18 months from the start of construction.
Project Design and Connectivity Improvements
The proposed flyover will span approximately 1.6 km, beginning near the Hebbal flyover and extending toward Mekhri Circle (Rotary Junction). The project is expected to streamline traffic movement along this heavily used stretch, which connects key routes leading to the airport and central parts of the city.
The design includes multiple ramps and directional corridors to facilitate smoother traffic flow toward areas such as Yeshwanthpur, CV Raman Road, and Jayamahal Road. The project also integrates with existing and planned infrastructure, including a proposed short tunnel near Hebbal.
