In a major boost to the city’s global infrastructure ambitions, Bengaluru Airport City Ltd (BACL) announced its partnership with Prestige Group to develop a state-of-the-art 8,000-seat Convention and Exhibition Centre (CEC). The announcement was made on Wednesday, signaling a transformative step for the region surrounding Kempegowda International Airport.

The proposed CEC is envisioned as a multi-format, high-impact venue capable of hosting a wide spectrum of events — from global summits and innovation forums to large-scale cultural festivals and trade exhibitions. Designed to position Bengaluru as a hub for international conventions and business tourism, the centre will play a key role in redefining the Airport City landscape.

Strategic Partnership for a Global Vision

BACL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), is spearheading the development of the Airport City — a smart, sustainable urban destination that integrates workspaces, entertainment, hospitality, and mobility. Partnering with Prestige Group, one of India’s most prominent real estate developers, aligns with BACL’s vision of creating world-class infrastructure with trusted industry leaders.

“The upcoming Convention and Exhibition Centre is a critical piece of infrastructure that supports our vision for Bengaluru Airport City as a globally benchmarked, urban destination,” said a BACL spokesperson. “With Prestige Group’s proven expertise, we are confident this project will attract international events and catalyze economic and cultural exchange.”

A Venue for the World

Spread across a sprawling footprint, the convention centre will feature advanced design and engineering to support flexible configurations — from corporate conclaves and product launches to mega expos and public performances. The facility will be equipped with cutting-edge technology, sustainable architecture, and seamless access via multimodal transport, including proximity to the upcoming metro line and airport terminal.

The 8,000-seat capacity positions the venue among the largest in South India, capable of drawing significant footfall from across the country and the globe.

Prestige Group’s Entry into Airport Infrastructure

This venture also marks Prestige Group’s expansion into large-scale public infrastructure. Known for premium residential and commercial developments, the group’s entry into building a convention centre of this scale adds a new dimension to its portfolio.

“We are proud to collaborate with BACL on a project that places Bengaluru on the global events map,” said a Prestige Group representative. “This centre will not only serve as a landmark venue but also spur growth in allied sectors like hospitality, retail, and tourism.”

Driving Economic Growth in North Bengaluru

The Convention and Exhibition Centre is expected to have a significant economic impact, driving job creation, boosting tourism, and enhancing the overall brand value of Bengaluru. As North Bengaluru continues to evolve into a major growth corridor, projects like these are set to accelerate its emergence as a business and cultural nucleus.

Construction timelines and design details are expected to be unveiled in the coming months, with the project seen as a cornerstone in BACL’s vision to create a smart city ecosystem around the airport.
