Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road (ORR), one of the city’s busiest tech corridors, is set to undergo a major infrastructure revamp under the TenderSURE model. The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has proposed a comprehensive upgrade of the 24-km stretch from Baiyappanahalli on Old Madras Road to Silk Board Junction.
The project blueprint, prepared by Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Ltd (B-SMILE) in collaboration with Infra Support Engineering Consultants Pvt Ltd, aims to transform the congested corridor into a world-class mobility hub. Over 6.5 lakh employees working in Fortune 500 companies located along the ORR are expected to benefit from this initiative.
Key Features of the ORR Revamp

White-topping of the main carriageway to ensure durability and smoother traffic flow.

Underground utility ducts similar to the TenderSURE model, reducing frequent road digging.

Multi-utility spaces under flyovers to maximize land use efficiency.

Pedestrian-first design including safe crossings, cycle lanes, and better signage.

Public plazas at key junctions such as Tin Factory and Iblur for community engagement.

Integration of lake edges at Agara and Benniganahalli to enhance urban ecology.
Officials highlighted that redesigning junctions and improving pedestrian mobility will be central to the plan. The proposal also emphasizes creating safe public spaces, efficient traffic management, and sustainable urban design.
B S Prahlad, Technical Director at B-SMILE, stated that the project would address long-standing mobility challenges on ORR while supporting the city’s growing tech ecosystem. With improved road quality, organized utility ducts, and better-designed public spaces, the revamp is expected to significantly ease daily commutes for thousands of IT professionals and residents.
The ORR TenderSURE makeover is one of Bengaluru’s most ambitious infrastructure projects, marking a crucial step toward developing a global-standard tech corridor.
