Bengaluru’s Namma Metro is set to raise the bar — literally. Under Phase-3, two upcoming stations, Goraguntepalya station (on Tumakuru Road) and Mysuru Road station will surpass the height of the current tallest in India, the Jayadeva Hospital metro station. The rail level at Goraguntepalya will reach 33 metres, while Mysuru Road will be 32 metres high — both higher than Jayadeva’s 29-metre rail level.

Phase-3 includes two major corridors: the 32.3-km Orange Line, connecting JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura via the Outer Ring Road, and the 12.15-km Silver Line, linking Hosahalli to Kadabagere along Magadi Road. The design features double-decker flyover-metro structures, where the metro line will run above existing road flyovers — a model similar to Jayadeva but scaled taller.

According to the transit authority, these landmark-height stations mark a significant engineering milestone for the city’s metro expansion. The plan includes more elevated stations: for example, a common interchange at the forthcoming station (Sumanahalli Cross) will feature stacked platforms at a rail level of about 26 metres.

Civil tenders for Phase-3 are expected to be floated soon, with the project’s overall completion target set for 2031. Once completed, the expanded network will not only increase connectivity across Bengaluru but also showcase India’s tallest operational metro stations.

For urban commuters, real-estate developers and city planners, this development signals a significant shift in Bengaluru’s transit-oriented growth — potentially boosting connectivity, easing traffic congestion, and enhancing the value proposition of neighborhoods along the new corridors.
