The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has reported strong performance for its premium bus service along NICE Road, with nearly 37.66 lakh passengers using the service in the past year. Launched in December 2023, the service, known as NICE-10, connects Madavara on Tumakuru Road with Electronics City through the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE) Road.
The route, designed to provide a faster and smoother commute, has become a preferred choice for tech professionals and office-goers traveling towards Bengaluru’s IT corridor. Operating 26 schedules with 168 trips daily, the service runs every 10 minutes, ensuring convenience and reliability for commuters.
Since its launch, the NICE-10 service has generated approximately ₹17.13 crore in revenue. In its opening year, the route carried 28 lakh passengers, and by its first anniversary, the number rose significantly, highlighting the growing demand for premium city bus services. Monthly revenue reached ₹1.49 crore in May 2025, underscoring its financial sustainability.
The buses cover nearly 360 km daily on NICE Road, compared to 200 km on regular city roads. This shorter travel time has proven to be one of the biggest attractions for passengers, reducing commute time to around 45 to 60 minutes. Additionally, the service has improved fuel efficiency, averaging 6 km per litre on NICE Road compared to 3 km per litre within city limits.
Commuters have welcomed the introduction of this service, citing reduced travel stress and reliable schedules. However, concerns remain over the lack of designated bus shelters along NICE Road. Passengers often wait in open areas without protection from sun or rain, leading to discomfort and safety issues.
BMTC officials have acknowledged the problem and indicated that proper bus stops require coordination with the private road operator. Despite this challenge, the NICE-10 service has quickly emerged as one of BMTC’s most successful initiatives, catering to the growing mobility needs of Bengaluru’s workforce.
