Kalpataru Projects International Ltd (KPIL) has secured a new engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order valued at approximately ₹719 crore for an elevated metro rail project in Thane, Maharashtra, according to the company’s regulatory filing. The order was awarded to KPIL’s urban infrastructure business, further expanding its presence in India’s fast-growing urban transportation segment.

The contract forms part of the Maharashtra government’s broader focus on improving intra-city connectivity within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and enhancing urban mobility. The elevated metro project in Thane will play a key role in complementing existing transport infrastructure and easing commuting challenges in one of the region’s high-growth corridors.

Kalpataru Projects International — a major player in EPC services across sectors including urban mobility, power transmission and distribution, buildings & factories, and civil infrastructure — will undertake the design, construction and commissioning tasks for the metro rail project under this contract. The award adds to KPIL’s portfolio and reflects continued investor and government interest in rail-based urban transport solutions.

According to the company’s statement, the order was secured along with its joint venture partners and is part of KPIL’s broader order pipeline that supports its infrastructure execution capabilities across India. The elevated metro rail order highlights KPIL’s expertise in handling large-scale projects with complex engineering requirements and advancing urban transit networks.

Industry analysts note that such contracts are critical for infrastructure firms seeking consistent execution momentum and enhanced revenue visibility, especially in the urban transportation sector where government initiatives continue to promote sustainable and scalable mass transit solutions.

The elevated metro rail project in Thane is expected to move into implementation phases in the coming months, subject to regulatory and project-specific clearances. As India’s urban centres expand, infrastructure contractors like KPIL are positioned to play an integral role in developing transport systems that meet growing commuter demands.
