Rolls-Royce, a global leader in aerospace and defence, has inaugurated its largest Global Engineering and Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru. The new facility reinforces Karnataka’s reputation as India’s aerospace and defence capital, while also strengthening the state’s position as a leading hub for Global Capability Centres.
The centre, located in Bengaluru, is designed to support Rolls-Royce’s global engineering and advanced manufacturing requirements. It will focus on delivering high-end technology solutions, driving innovation, and enabling collaboration across the aerospace ecosystem. This expansion is expected to further integrate India into Rolls-Royce’s global value chain.
At the inauguration, dignitaries including the Hon’ble British High Commissioner to India Ms. Lindy Cameron, Rolls-Royce Global CFO Ms. Helen McCabe, and several industry leaders were present. The event highlighted the role of Karnataka’s innovation ecosystem, which comprises research institutions, global corporations, and homegrown startups, in powering aerospace advancements from India to global markets.
Karnataka currently hosts more than 400 Global Capability Centres, making it India’s GCC capital. With this new Rolls-Royce centre, the state continues to attract significant global investments that generate high-quality employment, skill development opportunities, and MSME growth.
Rolls-Royce has had a longstanding presence in India, contributing to the aerospace sector for several decades. The establishment of its largest GCC in Bengaluru aligns with the company’s commitment to advancing engineering excellence and supporting India’s self-reliance in aerospace and defence.
The facility is expected to create a strong base for cutting-edge engineering, research, and advanced manufacturing, while also offering skilling opportunities for India’s growing workforce. By combining global expertise with local talent, Rolls-Royce aims to deliver world-class solutions that enhance its global operations.
With Karnataka already ranked among the top three aerospace hubs in the world, the opening of this centre further cements the state’s leadership in driving technology, innovation, and advanced manufacturing in the aerospace and defence sector.
